ITEBA

ITEBA was born out of the conflicts arising out of the military dictatorship in Brazil from 1964 - 1985. It has a rich and evolving history that is briefly examined in The ITEBA Story. ITEBA's own website can be found at http://www.iteba.hpg.ig.com.br/. Elizabeth MacGregor has translated the ITEBA website into English and has allowed us to post it on our site.

A group of Network and ITEBA staff wrote and submitted a grant to the Presbyterian Women (PCUSA) Birthday Offering in 2003 for funds to allow ITEBA to purchase a physical facility that will, in turn, allow it to apply to the Brazilian government for official university status. Such status will provide significant advantages to ITEBA and its graduates. The grant was awarded in 2004. Several documents below relate to that grant. In late October 2006 ITEBA purchased an abandoned school building in the central section of the old city of Salvador for its new facility. However, the building needs renovation before being usable. A picture of this building appears to the right.

There are a number of documents that will help you understand the mission and background of ITEBA, and these are listed below. Each is a link and clicking on them will take you to the document.
